    '02 vs '03 rear suspension

So I've read in at least one thread here that '03s are about 3/4" higher in the rear than '02s; but I've asked some people in the know (about Ford's in general) and they say it's only the L' s that were effected by this.

So my question is, had anyone lined up a stock 02 next to a stock 03 to compare? And if so, is the difference there or not.

Sold my 2002 BLK #9638 to my wife's uncle, Sold my 2003 BLK #6682 to a nameless man local to me.

I recall this also. Isn't the difference in the leaf pack, an additional leaf in the 03s? I've never lined up side by side with an 02, but my 03 was 19" center of wheel to the fender lip. That was with a heavy tonneau, I suspect 19.5" without the cover.

I was looking at that yesterday, I didn't go deep enough into it to find what I was looking for. My bad.

I'm fairly sure that height difference only applied to the lightnings.

Well Poop. I just called Drew Ford parts department here, and they confirmed that the '02 and '03 leaf packs have the same part number. Perhaps it is an issue that since these trucks have been out of production for so long the dealership only has one part number for them? But originally they were different. Lots of posts about it here. IDK.

As far as I know, it was Lightnings only.

From what I remember when my 03 was new they were a bit higher than the 02s were. Most didn't stay that way for very long.

I am about to put the '03 leafs (minus 1 leaf from the pack) on my '02 since I have a buyer for my hotchkis leafs. Problem is the '02 has BT Shackles, so it might be a little stink bug...will wait to see. If I gotta get some JLP Shackles later I will.

I just measured my '02, it still is stock and from fender lip to mid rim is 19 1/2. That is without a tonneau cover.

Well I pulled the same leaf out of the '03 packs, and put them on my '02, and set side by side the trucks are only about 3/4" maaaaaaaaybe 1" different in the rear (I haven't measured yet, but if you want me to just ask), but that is due to the fact that my '02 has Bell Tech shackles, and my '03 has the JLP's.

Not saying anyone is right or wrong, as I can't honestly answer the OP's (lol) question now, as both of mine are modified, I guess the only thing I can say is I am happy with the results on both.
