The first prototypes just came in...

I didn't care for the Diamond Plate pattern when it was done so I scrapped it.
I think I'm going to redo it with a brushed aluminum pattern with blue lighting.
Same as below but brushed aluminum. It'll stand out on or off. Lots of contrast.

Lighted Blue - Carbon Fiber pattern

This one looks great lit but when it's off it's all dark.
Side thoughts...Who's gonna see it when it's off??? (the door is closed)
With this version only the illumination shows. (sill is dark & truck is black)

I like the idea that you see nothing unless the light is on and I would only want the light on when the door is open. I'm sure that is what you were thinking too.

That was my thought too...until I got the brushed aluminum pattern with the blue lighting.
I like it! Maybe it's because I've spent many years looking at my "silver etched" door sills.
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...dDoorSills.jpg I liked the CF one. Now I like both.
I'm still assembling the prototypes. Hopefully I'll have some preliminary pics done shortly.

That brushed aluminum looks good. Would it be possible to do that with a white led? Even better if the led just did the outline of the letters rather than lighting up the entire letter.

    Good ideas...

Here's what I have done so far...

    Blue lighting:

    Carbon fiber pattern

    Brushed aluminum pattern

The blue color (below) is actually a darker blue (like the colors above). I think the flash washed it out.

The lighting is a different type of technology. It's not harsh like LED.
I looks kinda like the illumination on my cars speedo/tach dashboard.
    I wasn't sure if I'd like the brushed aluminum look...I think it's a tie!

This is what the brushed aluminum one looks like with the light off

Both versions look better than what I currently have!

    Dang, that is looking nice!

I can't decide which one either. Both look pretty good IMO.
I guess it depends on what feng shui your truck already has....CF or Billet to match the rest.

Thank you for your vote and you vote of confidence...

If all goes well I'll have mine done by the end of next week.
I'm planning on adding a very small radius to all four corners.
(The original prototypes had four hard sharp square corners.)
Right now I'm working very hard to keep the quality I want.
While getting costs down. I will NOT sacrifice quality for price.
I will post pictures as soon as I have them installed.

    Here's what I've learned...
The fronts are 29" wide and should be very similar to above.
The rears are 19" wide and will only have room for the script.

They will need to be wired into the circuit for the dome lights.
    See http://www.nhtoc.com/vbforum/showthr...ourtesy+lights

Voting for your favorite is very important in my decision.
I'm going to make the one (for me) that most folks like.

I'm afraid for those that actual drive their truck that the stainless will get scuffed up.

    Little things learned...

The light source is 2 3/8" wide. I'll need to make the height 2 7/16" to cover the edge of the light.
The new light source is now slightly brighter than the one I used for the prototype pictures. (I like it better)
I'm going to make slightly rounded corners (rather than square in the prototype) I like the "look" of it better.

    Front 2 7/16" x 29"- Example

Script only on the rear due to length.
    Rear 2 7/16" x 19" - Example

...and still more exciting news to come...
