    Hagerty Insurance

My truck is mostly a garage queen. It's not my daily driver. It does not see many miles in a year. 38k on the 03 ODO.

Mostly I take it to car shows, cruises, fun stuff like a trip to the ice cream shop, occasional errands, or occasionally driving to work.

I discovered that Hagerty will insure it. Does anyone have experience with Hagerty? www.hagerty.com/progressive

Quite a few threads over the years on collectors insurance over on LR. Between Hagerty, and Grundy, seems Grundy is the most popular. And they allow set value policies, not just what your vehicle books for. Not sure if Hagerty does that or not. Definitely worth looking into both. Thats my plan once my build is complete. At that point, my Farmers insurance will not cover near what I have into it, then I will switch.

Let us know how it goes!

Hagerty allows set value - It looks like each 5k kicks it up about $40 per year.
Either way, it looks like my "regular" policy is more and it is only book value.

One way to knock down the cost is to insure it as a pleasure vehicle

Agreed, I used this link to obtain a free anonymous quote www.hagerty.com/progressive. This way I could modify the coverage to my needs.

One of the use choices is * car shows, cruises, fun stuff like a trip to the ice cream shop, occasional errands, or occasionally driving to work.

I use american collectors insurance for my mustangs. Stated value coverage and no mileage restrictions, just can't be your only car and you have to provide proof of registration for another car for every member of household that could drive the collector car.

My mom's 57 Chevy was stolen from her driveway and they refused to pay stating it was not in a garage.

    Any other suggestions?

Grundy etc.? or do all the "classic" car insurers play the same game?

for giggles I did a quote to match my coverage from american collectors vs hagarty.

hagarty same coverage was about $6 more per year, so very comparable. My cars are listed as being garaged as per policy with american, I think that's going to be the same for any of them...if it's at your house it's gotta be garaged, if you're out with it and it gets stolen then you're fine. Pretty tough to break in and steal a harley truck with the chipped keys though unless you do something stupid like install a remote start alarm and have a chipped key hidden inside the dash to defeat the PATS system (dumb!)
