    ***DO NOT PAINT THESE***

OMG, I have been in the garage the last 4 hours fighting this crap. It fisheyed, and orangepeeled in the fisheyes. I ruined one of them, and now have to go and buy a new one, and they aren't exactly cheap. After replacing it, I think I am going to give up for a while on them, as I will be in over $100 just trying to make them black and a little shiny.

A little more instructions on removing the window trim.

Since you like the all black look, I wish I could find my OEM ones so I could help you out. They were only in the sun for 3500 miles.

Actually I hate to say this, but those would probably hold the black paint or plasti-dip better than the OEM HD rubber ones.

No doubt. 20 products in 2 days and now paint doesn't sit right. Who would have thunk it

No, I re-sanded them and cleaned them with acetone first. I made sure they were clean. May have been that it was 60°?? IDK, maybe there was something left in there but I spent the first hour cleaning before the paint came.

I found a thread about getting them off. Must be some kind of adhesive holding them down, or its just that they have been there for 12 years, but I just had to pull a little harder. I was afraid of bending them.

I wish you could find your old ones too, but thats alright, I appreciate you looking for me already!!

The blackwood ones likely would hold the paint better, but the ones here are going for $350 I think, I can go to my dealer and get a whole brand new set for $225.

I just found a detail supply store close to me, I am going to see if they have a sample bottle of CarPro Dlux, I really don't want to spend anymore money on this right now.

I thought about it, I'm not that dumb. I cleaned and sanded, they were ready for paint. I know that it wasn't the products I used, because I didn't use all the products on all the pieces, and they all fisheyed the same. Maybe it was the temperature, but not for a lack of being cleaned.

I thought Joedpl had some Blackwood trim in the classifieds here for best offer?

I know its blasphemy to use those are hard to find now and others are looking to get shiny stuff, but I think the paint would hold better to the metal than the rubber for longevity.

Or I guess if you get new OEM rubber ones from the dealer you can make sure to always keep them up with the dressings since the previous owner probably didn't.

I have a small amount of Carpro DLux left in a bottle. If you want to PM me your address I'll send it to you to try.
It may not be enough to do all your trim but it should be enough to use on a section and see if it will do the job.
...beats spending $40 to "try" another product. It may not work out for you in this situation but it is worth a try.

I don't want nuttin' (not a lot left in the bottle). It is a "coating" not a dressing.
A good dressing may last a few weeks. DLux dries and will last for many months.

Oh Yea...I want your shipping info in a PM.
