    shock extenders

hey guys, i'm planning on doing a 2/3 drop in the next few weeks. I've searched the forums and it seems theres a mixed response when it comes to shock extenders. I'm well aware that shorter shocks, preferably bilstien, qa1 or strange shocks would be best but i'm looking to keep costs down. My only real concern is how low they would hang. Do you guys with extenders scrape them much?

i've got beltech spindles for the front so its just the rear i need to worry about. some have also said that the shocks would be fine as long as its 3" or less, doesn't sound right to me.

I have the shock extenders you speak of, and I have never scraped them on anything even once.

On that note, I used the shock extenders in an attempt to keep the shocks closer to the middle of the stroke than right at the end. Cheaper insurance then to let the shocks bottom out if the axle hits the bump stops on the frame. May just be erring on the side of caution on my part, but when you spend $120 per shock, a one time cost of $40 was worth it to me.

I have a set but never put them on. I'm currently running 2011 v6 mustang shocks because they were free and laying around with my rear flip kick. I'll eventually get something different.

the diff hangs lower than the shock extenders on my truck I'm pretty sure.

I don't off-road with my truck, or run over parking stoppers or curbs though...

You dont have to worry about the extenders unless your going off-roading. They are behind the wheel, so there wont be any height fluctuations under the extenders unless there is something in the road. On long traction bars, the rear bracket probably hangs lower than extenders and its not an issue. Its the front brackets you have to be careful of.
