    Air Suspension / Air Bags

    Hello all,

I am looking to add the air bags to my suspension. The 2 systems I have been looking at is the Firestone Ride Rite or Air Lift system.

Has anyone installed these on the truck?
Did you have any clearance issues?

Is one system better than the other?

    Thanks

The Air Lift system (59103) is more common on these trucks from my research. I have the kit waiting for install so I can't offer a first-hand testimonial but users seem very pleased with the kit.

I called Air lift and they are recommending 59501. Throttle Jockey, where did you get that part number, and do you know what is the difference from what is recommending from Air Lift?

59103 is a general application kit for trucks lowered 2-4". I use the search feature extensively on the various L/HD forums and that's the kit used by lowered truck owners. I ordered directly from Air Lift and after talking to the rep he confirmed that's the kit needed in my case due to the drop. If you're at factory ride height then the 59501 is probably the right kit.

    Throttle jockey,
Thanks for clarifing this, yes I am at factory height. Have you come across any good write ups indication ink the the install process? I'm curious as to where people are installing the on board compressor ( if purchased).

The kit will come with install directions but if you google the kit number you should be able to find the installation directions. I know the install directions for the 59103 kit are available online. Install isn't too complicated though.

I think some guys make custom brackets for the compressor. IIRC Outsider (Shawn) posted pics of his compressor install in his thread about the revitalization of his truck.
