    Question Alignment issues

I just changed my upper control arms. Pretty easy job . Just had a question about the alignment. Is there a different set up for the Harley trucks compared to the non-hd version? I put the stock bolts and alignment plates back in and it drove fine but wanted to check the final alignment. Well the set up was out of spec. So I ordered the adjustment bolt kit and installed and went back for the realignment. It's now with in spec but the stearing wheel vibrates from 30-80up. Any ideas?..

IIRC the HD alignment specs are different from standard F-150 alignment specs. Its common for HD owners to use the Lightning alignment specs.

Thank you for the feed back. Probably should have researched the question before asking. Always a lot of information on the site.

If it is vibrating it's not an alignment issue it's a balance issue, you may have knocked a wheel weight off when you were working on the truck, easy to do for sure!!!

He's right. Probably knocked off some weights while you were working on it. Need to get your front tires rebalanced to make the vibration go away.

Sounds about right with the balance.
Also, yes, I use the Lightning alignment spec.
Mine rides smooth at all speeds.

I too needed to do the cam bolt/washer mod.

IIRC NAPA is a good source. Do a search on here and I bet you can find the part numbers.

LFP also sells them. Expect to have to open up the bolt holes a little bit so the bolts can slip through the clunk washers.

Metco Product ID: MCW0001 Clunk Washers

    Clunk Washers

    1999-2004 Lightning & Similar Applications

These precision-machined spacers fit between the driver's side front lower control arm and the frame bracket.
The factory holes for the rear bolt are slotted, and the installation of these washers will prevent unwanted movement of the control arm mounting bolt.
The movement that results from the factory arrangement can be felt as a 'clunk' when the steering wheel is turned and as instability in the steering while driving.

These 1.5" diameter spacers are precision-machined from high-grade steel and then nickel-plated for long-lasting durability.
Two washers (one for each side of the bolt) are included in each kit. Installation is very simple and no special tools are required.

The two washers install at each end of rearmost bolt for the driver's side lower control arm.

Here is a picture of the frame hole where the washer is installed:

Note 1: It is recommended that the truck be aligned following the installation of these clunk washers.

    Note 2:
In some instances, it appears that Ford used a control arm bolt with the same thread but a slightly larger OD.
The fit of the washer over the fastener is tight by design.
Some trucks using this particular bolt with the taller threads may require a slight honing of the ID of the washers for proper installation.

The bolts you need two kits of two bolts/washers one kit per side

The clunk washers you need 2, one for each lower control arm slot on the drivers side only
