    No fixing this Spare Tire Hoist

    I was going to try and *fix* my spare tire hoist. Before opening it up I knew the cable had come apart and thought that was the only problem (there was a bind in the case)...

    I don't want to buy a Dorman unit (horror stories of them dropping off trucks going down the highway all over my google search results)...and the cheapest I can find an OE unit is 122 (on eBay)

    I got it opened up (as simple as grinding out the 4 outside case rivets and punching them out) and found this....I don't think this one is repairable.

    the cable separated and when it got in a bind in the case, it destroyed the plastic cable guide it rides on
