    went to the track wed.

well i finally got a chance to take my truck to the track wednesday night. The best I could come up with was a 14.0, had lots of wheelspin, i know i could have gotten into the upper 13's easily with traction, i got 8 runs in:

1st - 15.8 (spun almost all the way down the track it seems)
2nd- 14.6 (still way too much wheel spin)
3rd- 14.06 (started to hook up a little better, still spinning though)
    4th- 14.05
    5th- 14.02
    6th- 14.05
    7th- 14.04
    8th- 14.04

as you can see i was sooo close to breaking into the 13's
temperature was around 68 degrees, i have plans to go back in 2 weeks, guess we'll see what i can do then, maybe i'll find some slicks, oh yea i dont have the time slips on me now cuz im at work, but will post them tomorrow. peace

PS: do you guys think i should be getting better times? my mods are:

    Mac air intake
    magnaflow cat back exhaust
6 lb Lightning lower (4# HD)
    superchips single program chip
    stock wheels
    3/5" drop

There was one other harley there, 03 black, was this anybody from here? This was at No problem raceway in Belle Rose, LA, i think the best he pulled off was a 14.5 but not sure, there was also one lightning there, i believe the best he pulled was a 12.8 with slicks

I ran 14.02 with a 4# lower, no chip, K&N drop in filter, smoothed upper phlenum. Thats it. My truck was spinning and I was getting crap 60ft times. I recently installed traction bars but I haven't been to the track yet. I will take her down on Wednsday night and give her a try.

I got the JLP traction bars. They were like $350 or something(sorry I suck at remembering prices)

You can get them from Johnny Lightning Performance. www.johnnylightningperf.com
(717)786-4670 is the office number, just ask for Sue or Johnny and they can take care of you.

I noticed a good bit of traction just from installing them. The truck rides a bit more stiff, and it hooks a bit better. It does still spin, but not near as bad. I'm hoping that with these I will be able to break into the 13's.

It eliminates all the wheel hop that I was getting. I think now after I put these on I was even getting hop when the truck shifted from 1-2. It just plants the tires now.

I have almost the same setup, good run. 8 runs that's great, lucky if I can get 4 in a night.
Did you cool the truck down at all? I think I am taking ice next time and letting it really cool down before I run. I always seem to get there and just get in line and go.

;d Man I want them JLP traction bars so bad and that heat exchanger...I know I could get into the mid 13's...might be able to get there with just a good launch???

    Laugh

Okay one quick lesson for the new guy. In the 2003 truck, I understand having the pulley changed and a K&N filter, what are the next basic parts that won't kill my warranty?

The pulley will kill your warranty, but usual mods are as follows(correct me guys if I am wrong)

    Factory tech valve body
    cold air kit
    oil seperator
    lower pulley (4-6lb)
custom dyno chip or bop reflash
    cat back exhaust
    full length headers
    x-pipe
accufab or billet flow throttle body
    phenolic upper intake spacer
    metco idler pulleys
    4.10 gears
and if you got some cash
    jlp short block with cams
    manley or eagle rods
    diamond or je pistons
    kenne bell supercharger
    2600 stall converter
    a little n2o

Maybe not in that order, but close.
