Lightbulb Build this sub box for your 01-up HD

Well, decided to make my design fully public. Sharing now in this nice forum. This is the box that I build for my rear center console for a 12" sub. I shared this schematic with some others but I'm only sure about Chesterc building it. Material cost should be no more than $30-$40. You can adjust the box brackets to adjust the box height depending on your sub. Mine has a 1.5" gap from the tallest floor part. A sub with less excursion may be ok with 1". If you have any question please email me or post it here. This is my contribution to this Harley community. My only request for you is to refer to this sub design as the HD4mula box. That recognition would make me feel very good . Hope it helps some out here. If you want to see some more pics see my gallery at FTW. Tks.

    Hi Alex,

Why does that sub box look very familiar;w ?
    Thanks again for your generosity.

For some reason the [IMG] tags are disabled in this section of the forums.

    HD4mula,
I 'm going to make a copy of this thread in the "How To" section. Your images won't show up here, because the [b][IMG] code is OFF[/]. I considered moving the entire thread, but I feel like it will get more attention here. BTW- Great job...

I want to but an Image Dynamics ID max 12 in this box but I really need to have 1.3 cf of air space. Is there any way to get a little more airspace out of it?

You can, by increasing the height to about 15 1/4 or 15 1/2.

You can get some more space towards the front but that of course will require some more effort to shape it (cutting & measuring). You can also try to extend it with fiberglass but just like before it will require more work. My main intent with this design was to keep a rectangular shape to simplify building it and also to avoid braking things so anyone could go back to stock without problems. If you don't care about that then you can be more creative about it. Like if you cut the top rear of the shell then you can extend the box back further at the top and get more cubic foots. Also if you eliminate the CD holder on the lid then you can make an L shape at the top and get some extra heigh there. The problem with increasing the overall height too much is that then the console may look too tall.

It's a CD Holder? I thought it was a Kleenex holder. I use it to hold a box of Kleenex perfectly.
