Indestructible!
Name:
It totally depends on what you are listening to. I have 2 amps, 1100 mono for my sub and 300 x 4 for the doors. My system was expensive. $500 for the HU, $1200 for the sub, $650 for the one amp, $400 for the other, $125 for each set of doors, then the wire and custom box. It adds up quick. All depend on your budget and your sound preference.

Crockett has the basics down pat....
here is the key:
If you listen to Rap, R&B (hard core), or Bass CD's you will want a serious sub amp (D-class) & then a nice 4-channel amp for mids & highs
If you are an older more "mature" listener, Jazz, classic rock, alternative under 125db etc... a great 5-channel amp can do the trick... examples being Alpine, xTant, Rockford, Precision Power, Alphasonik, Eclipse. All make great 5-channel single amp systems.
Trust me on this... a GOOD/GREAT 5-Channel amp is $500+
I would bet you want a good sub-amp & a good 4-channel or a pair of 2- channel amps fo the mids/highs.
As Crockett said... depends on your musical taste.
Give us more info.. we can help
