I used dovetail joints and expanding water activated glue. I let it dry overnight and sanded it.
I've been having mine in, well for about 2 years now. No issues at all and from what I remember it wasn't that hard to make. Wood glue and countersunk screws is what I used. Didn't do the plexiglass top which I really wanted to do but couldn't find any for a decent price. Go with the specs and you'll be fine. Fits like a glove.

I'd really like to be able to see his gallery that the link lead to again. I was about to head to Lowes to get some MDF to start on a box but I really like the look of that plexiglass top.
Wish I could see how he did this in detail.
Just built it yesterday.... Staple guns work great, countersinking screws takes a lot longer.. Just a question for those of you who use this. it sounds great but the handle to the console rattles like a b@#%$!!! Did you guys use dynomat or anything else there?
I countersank all of mine. My dad has all of my air nailers at the moment. He's installing hardwood in their house. He's got 4 of my nailers
I think screws hold better anyways cause that way I didn't have to clamp it all together once I was done.
Oh and I put a foam strip around the console to stop the vibration. It still happens but it's no where near as noticable.
If you want to you can get lexan in a small sheet on E Bay less than 20.00

I got a piece of plexiglass that was 1/4"x18"x24". My box is 17x12, so I cut an inch off of the long side, then cut it in half, then doubled it up. Made it real thick, you can't tell it's two pieces, and it covers the whole top of the box.
I'm having trouble comprehending what this actually is. Is it a console Replacement? Do you have to cut the stock console? Are there any writeup's with an actual step by step procedure? Thanks in advance.
This is a box that fits inside the console and, from my understanding, you do have to cut up the inside of the console.
I couldn't deal with the console rattling when I had a "inside-the-console" box. I decided to build a console replacement...much more work and money. This is a really nice and simple design
The only thing you need to cut is the "bucket" that goes inside the console. The box should fit right inside the console with no modification needed.
My sub is downfiring and does not rattle at all. Sounds real deep and clean.
Im going to resurrect this thread for insight. Im not quite sure how the box fits in the console. Do you just cut the inside of the console and slide it on top of the box and rescrew the lid once its mounted? Also any troubles with the down firing sub? Im afraid of the sub hitting the floor when thumping.
