Angry Amp behind rear seats? How'd you do it?

OK....Some of you may have seen, but I spent a butt load of time painting the amp shroud on my Kicker KX 300.4. I planned on installing the amp with the shroud behind the left rear seat inside the rear plastic storage area. I figure it would look good centered behind the door, plus I would have easy access for adjustments.

One problem! The son of a b will not fit back there with the shroud!! I know many of you have installed your amps in this same location. What tricks, techniques or method did you use?

Knowing it would be a tight fit, I only used 3/8" plywood to make my mounting board. I covered it in black vinyl, so that added a tad to the thickness, but not much. My mounting board is only 9 1/2 inches tall, so that it fits all the way back against the wall and in between the places where the sheet metal humps out at the top and bottom.

With this set-up, there is room to mount the amp sans shroud, but I want that damn shroud on there after I painted it Harley Orange!! ;c

Did anyone do anything different or have any ideas? I MAY be able to make it fit by mounting the amp directly the rear wall, but I hate to do that as I wanted to avoid drilling into that area. Quite frankly, I'm not sure that would even do the trick.

My amp with the shroud is 2.5" high and 10.125 inches wide. Anyone make it fit with similar dimensions?

I'm out of town until next Sunday, at which time I want to finish this bad boy! Help me out if you can

I have both of my amps mounted on the wall and they both are mounted on a 1/2" plye wood..
    Dimensions on my amps are:
    1501 is 2.38 X 9.85 X 17.07 (inches)
    851x is 2.38 X 9.85 X 17.07 (inches)

    Hope that helps...

Hmmmm...with the difference in the ply (mine being thinner) it should definitely work. Do you have any other pics of your amps, perhaps one that shows the way you have your plywood mounted?

    Thanks!
