    Alignment Question

    My truck goes in tomorrow for new shoes and Alignment.

    Since I have lowered the rear with shackles and the front by cutting the coils;
    Do I need to get a four wheel alignment or is just a front alignment enough?

    Just the front and have the align to these specs.

    I am having the Performance Ford dealer in Minneapolis do some work next week... I will have them add this to the 2-day+ work list.

    Don't forget an upper A-arm bolt mod.

    Left the truck at the Ford dealer this morning........they said $12.00 ea to mount and balance my Toyo's and $75.00 for four wheel alignment, seemed reasonable to me, especially for a dealership.

    The alignment guy there does alignments for several specialty shops around here that do truck lift and lowering kits. He has worked at the dealership for 30 years and was highly recommended by everyone I talked to.

    So, hopefully, my truck is in good hands.

    Just ask them how they set the camber. They should know to put the new bolts on. Make sure they use Ford bolts. After market kits use nylon lock nuts these have only 3 threads instead of 6. The washers tend to warp also. If you look on your upper A-arms you should see some new bolts with offset washers. If they set the toe in @ 1/8 inch that is as close as Aryton's specs.

    Nope wrong. That is for lowers. But I did find this little reference he has on there. http://www.timskelton.com/lightning/.../cam_bolts.htm
    Just don't use the parts he is quoting. Go get Ford parts.

    I had already installed the cam bolts myself, when I lowered the front. I used the NAPA kit, part # listed in the how to forum, it did not have nylon lock nuts and was superior to the ford parts (IMO), for less money.

    Also the "Herbs Washers", which I installed also, are FAR superior to the serated washers Ford wants to use. If you saw the difference, you would not say to use the Ford parts.

    Thanks for the heads up on the lowers.(Herbs Washers) I haven't done them yet. On the Cam bolts the Napa washers look like they are as thick as the Ford ones but you should watch them to see if they warp.

    And, thank you. I'll keep an eye on the washers.......they seemed pretty hard to me, can't imagine them warping but I'll double check.
