superchips prgrammer should work
lets you change tranny settings as well as add HP, without installing a chip. It reprograms the computer through the port under the steering wheel.
I have one I'll make you a killer deal on if you're interested
I will talk to James what kind of $$$ are you talking about!!! for programmer
Old and Blown Gen I lightning
10.77 @ 119.23 No2 to come soon!!!
chip/programmer wont really give you much power increase on a n/a truck, at least for the amount of money they charge for them. unless you can pick up a chip for cheap and get a reburn for cheap, i would skip this all together unless he's got a lot of money to burn.
Best mods that i've done in the motor/power department, in order of my most favorite 1st.
FTVB for the 4R70W tranny! GOTTA DO THIS! it'll firm up the shifts perfectly. One of the few things a chip will do is firm up the shifts, which you dont want with the FTVB because they will be too hard, so if he does get a chip he should get tranny settings for stock. and that doesnt leave much left for the chip to do besides make you burn 93 octane
LFP Efan. plugs right in and all, very easy to do. Better throttle response, better gas mileage. was worth the money
AF1 intake. better throttle response again, this was my 1st performance mod so it helped alot over stock with nothing done. I like it better than the K&N or Airaide because the AF1, the end of the filter isn't just capped off like the others so it gets the air from the hole in the fender.
I've also got a superchip, waste of money, breather cap just cuz it was free and i put it on for looks (chip burned for the breather though), and magnaflow muffler. Won't get noticible power, if any, out of a catback on the n/a.
So, 1st mods i would hit up for the n/a would be FTVB, LFP Efan, and AF1 intake. Then maybe a programmer/chip, but i would spend that money elsewhere if i did it all again.
Hope this helps

I see you are in south jersey. whereabout? and where's your buddy at with the 00?
Fred Decker >>> from Millville , didn't he give you some tires used Gen 1 tires. SouthJerseyUSA
Slap on a KB. That's the only way you'll get REAL power.
Razorsedge.com has everthing you need. Put in a valve body in the tranny for better shifting, over drove the compressor from 6 to 14 pounds boost, flash programed the computer (Diaoblo Motorsports Preditor) for a really good tune to match the boost, good air filter (hugh).
Now I need a lot more traction tires are great they just go up in smoke.
Headed to the Dyno next week will report on results later.
looks like you've got a plan! Toyo proxies are good if your wondering which road to take
