    Predator ??

for anyone with a predator, what is you shift points at WOT? Do you hit the rev limiter comin out of 1st or 2nd? It seems like it takes forever to shift out of 1st!! Mine is set at 5250 but the motor blows by that before the tranny can shift!! Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I think my 1-2 shift is set around 5500-5600 and it does not hit the rev limiter. My truck actually was hitting the rev limiter at WOT prior to installing the Predator though, kind of a crappy feeling when your going balls out and it falls on its face when it shifts.

set your dash to the digital tach and have a friend watch the numbers and see how high it actually goes when it shifts.
lots more accurate and quicker response than the sweeper dial

Do you have a boost bypass??? Could be dumping the boost instead of hitting the rev limiter, they feel about the same. Just a thought.

no boost bypass.. it just feels like it takes forever to shift where other gears are nice and quick.

Venom - How do you set to digital tach??

Could the boost bypass cause damage at all to the engine??

    Thanks

Mine shifts at around 5300 RPMs.
Do you have a custom tune?

You can see what the boost bypass does and how to install it here.

hold the trip meter reset button while you start the truck, keep holding it until your gauges max for a sec, then settle back, your odometer will say "test" then you can use the reset button to cycle through all sorts of diagnostic stuff
digital speedo, digital tach, lots of stuff I don't know what is

cycle thru to tach, then have a buddy watch while you romp it through a 1-2 shift and see what the highest # he sees is. That should tell you if you're shifting too high and dumping boost or hitting the limiter or anything.
The digital tach is updated several times a second, lots more accurate than the sweeper needle.
When you shut the truck off, next time you start it back up, everything is back to normal- your odomoter is back to being an odometer and no more cool digital stuff till you do the button trick at startup again.

Wow that is amazing, I never knew you could have the digital stuff there. What are all the other readouts?? Anyways I had a friend ride with me he watched the dig readout, dig readout on the predator, and the needle. Never went over 5290, which is my shift point out of 1st, then second is 5250, then third is 5150. The Rev limit is set at 5600 so Im not hitting that. Then we watched my boost gauge and saw not drop in boost at all. I don'to know what it is then. Maybe I should increase the line pressure and see if that works?? ANy other ideas??

    Thanks again

I dunno what all the other modes mean - I just asked in the main 00-03 trucks thread since more people read that one, to see if anyone knows the full list.

Yep try and FTVB and you'll be happy you did. A lot of us have them and the shifts are more crisp.
