.....August's NHTOC TOTM winner is William “dragginNCrds” Chambers with a '02 DSG #1450 Congratulations William.....

William was born and raised in Wilmington North Carolina, He has lived there his entire life. Trucks and the whole custom car scene has been a big part of his life ever since he was little. He loves working on cars and trucks esp. the custom aspect of it.. He has his Harley and is also building a mini-truck from the ground up.. automobiles are his life.. He works for a wrecker service that is a family business and helps his dad who runs an accessory business out of the garage at the house.

Question # 1: What sparked your interests in the Harley trucks? Specifically your HD Truck?

When I was in high school I saw the 02s when they first came out and from that day on I wanted one.. I remember the first one I saw in town, was a black one, and I fell in love with them from that day forward. I love the way the black leather interior was as well as the chrome accents (my favorite color is chome anyways )

Question # 2: Any interesting stories behind the history of vehicles you've owned leading up to the HD truck or how you got it?

SHOOTTTTTT even though im only 24 I have driven like 10 cars, a 97 Expy on 22s (was my dads truck that was given to me to drive until he wanted to trade it in) a 92 ford Taurus my grandpa gave me (Totaled out) a 94 escort that I put 2 transmissions in, a 05 ford Focus ZX5(first car bought in my name with my parents co signed ~ I know I know, a focus.. really but hey I was 17 and it was good on gas, had a system in it of course.. then I totaled it on the highway , a 96 Taurus that I put a trans in and then the motor locked up 2 months later, that my grandpa gave me, a Chevy 2500HD with a 454 (GAS GUZZLER) I had it when the gas prices started going sky high so I traded that for a 07 focus ZX3, it was a focus so I had to make it somewhat “cool” so it had tinted windows, tinted tail lights and corner lights and a bangin system, and this is where I get to most resently in April of '11 I decided to buy myself a new truck for my birthday so I found a nice Ex-Cab Diesel F250 2wd, the dealer had mis listed the price on the internet so I got the truck for damn near nothing.. I didnt really want a diesel but it was a 06 and I paid 11k for it.. ran GREAT.. had a lot of work done to the motor by FORD so it was a great truck.. Their loss my gain, well I had that truck for 6 months to the T when I was sitting at a red light and got tboned by a drunk driver. Well lucky for me the insurance paid me what the truck was worth and not what I owed on it.. so that gave me a little spending money to get what ever.. and this is where the harley comes in.. I originally had found a 02 black HD in town that was pretty much stock except for a bed cover. Before I got over to look at it and test drive it the lot had sold it just a hour before I got there, So my search continued. I looked on autotrader for a month or so and I found acouple different options, most of which had already been sold. And some that were out of my price range. Then i Found my 02 DSG on a used car lot about a 3 hours from here out next to Charlotte NC. We rode out on a Saturday and looked at it and I fell in love and I was on the phone with the bank trying to get money to go back and get it. I really liked the DSG's due to their rarity anyways and well here we are today.

Question # 3: Give me a rough list of the mods that have been done to your truck. I know you've got a lot done, so you can just list your favorites if you'd like!

Well, I haven't had the truck very long but I am working on it slowly but surely, when I got it, it had the Replica 22s and had been de-striped, that's all I know of off the bat. Since i've got it, I have put a Pioneer Double Din in it, 3 Audiobahn 12s in a custom built rear center console enclosure, and a JL 500/1 behind the driver back seat, now it already had Eclipse highs and a eclipse 4 channel in it when I got it. But other than audio, I have done the H10 fog light swap, with Pure blue Recon bulbs in them and my headlights as well as a 03 style j jents grill, now I got the 03 style because as soon a find one i'm putting a 03 Valance on it. I just installed the Ford Racing boost gauge and column pod the other day and am loving it.

Question # 4: Tell us a little about yourself. Your other hobbies, your job, your favorite past time, whatever!

A little about myself... well hmm I am 24 live at the beach but absolutely hate it, i have lived here all my life so its just another thing to me I guess. As far as hobbies, I love anything to do with cars and trucks, I love building and showing vehicles, so I guess my favorite past time would be spending countless nights in the garage working on something.. I drive a tow truck for a living so I am always on call but I at least when i'm on call.. I can sit at the house and work on what ever project is going on at the time

Question # 5: You've been a member on the site for a while now, what is one of the best things you like about the site that keeps you around?

The best thing about NHTOC is the vast amounts of information fellow truck owners have to offer.. and any time that you have a problem a simple search will result in countless threads on said issue. That and every body on here is quick to help a fellow member no matter what the problem is.

Question # 6: What is one suggestion to help make the site a better place?

Other than keeping it free for those who cant afford to support I don't really have any suggestions other than get the member numbers back up to date for those who have paid and don't have one yet (like me )

Question # 7: This is where I normally ask about where you decided on your screen name and any specific reason for choosing it?

Well my normally when people thing of draggin they think of racing, but before I got my Harley, I have a body dropped mini-truck that would drag frame and body so that is where I come up with the draggin and well the rest of because of where I live I guess.. its something that I came up with YEARS and YEARS ago and it just stuck I guess

Question # 8: Almost at the end, what is in the future for your truck?, so what’s the next plan of attack for your trucks future?!

Well, I would like to do some work to get more power out of it, the simple things like the 3 P's, I'm gonna use it to tow my show truck when I get it done so I don't want it too fast.. but I want it reliable with a little more oomph than it has now. I am also eventually gonna bag the truck and run the rep. 22's that are on it now, other than that I just wanna respray the truck so it has a fresh outside because its 10 years old and has 127k on it.. there are a few chips and scratches here and there..

Question 9: Last and final question, just an open end question for if you had anything else you wanted to mention that I didn't have a question for...here's the place to go at it! Your web site link, a plug for something, etc. etc. whatever you want to throw in!

Well, I would like to thank my girlfriend Stephanie, for putting up with all the nights in the garage helping me with what ever project, My parents for getting me into the custom car scene, yes I know.. I said my parents... hard to believe hung, and anyone else who has helped me get this far. I would also like to think the guys on NHTOC for the help that they have given me for the questions I have asked. I would also like to give a little plug I guess to my dads business, Carolina Custom Autoworks here in Wilmington NC.. if any of you guys on here need anything just tell him your from here and he will give u the best deal he can.
