just went through this on my 03
mine had little plastic tabs that held it on, per someones post on here, I used a box cutter with the blade all the way out to reach through fromt he front and cut the plastic pins. They dropped out the back and the plate was off!

    hope this helps!

Venom, that was my response to you on the box cutter. The 2002
have 2 small bolts that must be removed at the top and have either a bolt or plastic push pin on the bottom. I think the wrench size is 8mm or 10mm.

The top two tabs on that license plate bracket are about three inches long and each one has a bolt with 8mm head holding it on. It comes down from the top through the clipnut on the end of the plastic tab - requires getting under the truck to get to them. You will only lose a little skin before you're through - have fun!

My 03 had the metric bolts. 2 on the top and 1 on the tab at the bottom. It's a tight squeeze at the top, u will lose some skin.

It's a major pain in the A@@ job. It involves a lot off swearing and skin off your knuckles. ;c

Also, on the 02s, the metal nuts that are pressed on to the tabs at the top don't fit through the opening in the front bumper. I had to get a pair of needle nose and pry them off before sliding the tabs through the bumper.

I just removed the radiator shroud and took the bolts out from the top. I almost didn't get my arm back out but didn't have to cut anything.
