Why would you want to tint your rear view mirror?

You can take off the mirror with an allen wrench leaving just the mount, then just trim the tint around the mount. It wiil only leave a inch square spot outside that you can see the mount.
If you want the tint solid without a hole in it, remove the mirror and take off the mount with vise grips. Just make sure you twist the mount without hitting the windshield with the wrench. DON'T pull it off. I take it your going without a mirror? If you are putting it back on, any windseild shop will glue the mount back on in a lower spot.

I wouldn't glue the mirror back on over the tint.......

Just tint around the mirror base while leaving it stuck to the windscreen.

I thank you all for the feed-back. Just putting on a 10% brow as they call it to help with flip up monitor.

Something like this? (not the best picture of windshield!)

5% just below the factory blue tint strip.

Im trying to remember how they removed mine... small screw driver, and it popped the whole assy., right off. Only small tab stayed on the windshield. Didnt even dissconnect the wire from the rear view, as it only took 10mins to get everything cut and in place. If your guy doesnt want the mirror to swing there, while he is tinting, just reach up in the "pod" (where dome light/sun roof switch/etc) is, and pull it down. You can dissconnect the rear view wire harness there.

We don't have inspections here in Bama so mine is about 12" down. And what I've done to every vehicle I've ever onwed is, cut the bottom with the curve of the top of the windsheild, then slide the tint down and cut it again for the top. That way the tint is 12" wide all the way across the wind sheild and doesn't have that stupid half moon curve to it on the bottom.
