"How Do You Bulit Proof Your Tranny?"
Sorry to say but there's no such thing! I have had my 4R70W built/built again with every part out there/added a PI TC and added some other parts we found on the market. And yesterday it went out again. No 3rd or OD If you make enough power it's going to break. I'm looking in to a BTS 4R100 now. Maybe that will do the trick. Phil

Looking at your mods you should've really started out with a BTS 4R100 from the get go. Let us know if you do and check back after it's been broken in. Later... Bruce |

And when I had the tranny done I thought, well if Johnny Lightning can run a 4R70W, Then I could build it up and be ok.But,,live and learn,,lol. I wanted to use my tranny because it's lighter. Didn't need to add any more weight. Phil |

if you need a tranny harness for a 4R100, lemme know. I've got a spare one, just gotta find it. I did the swap from 4R70W to 4R100 during my whole buildup winter before last

no problemo! shot you a PM with a bunch of info. you will need the tranny harness. the 4R100 is setup totally different than the 4R70W so all the sensors, etc. are a bit different.
who exactly is your tuner/builder? I'm assuming somebody in the tri-state region? you gotta get that truck to one of the DelVal meets coming up! |

I don't think there is a resonable number that you can point to that will say at this point it will fail. Each tranny is different and driven differently. There are alot of people drving around with trucks in the 380-400+ HP on stockers. Mine was rebuilt by Ford once already...387/469 the last time I was on a dyno.

I just finished having my mother built (after joining the VBC). KB 2.6, Ross Pistons, H-beam rods, ported heads, stainless valves, good springs, head studs. I am hoping for 450-500hp. I am planning on a FTVB and a Moroso pan. Just wondering if I will be looking at transmission issues....

too funny.the 4R100 is pretty stout. you should be okay with 450-500 hp to the wheels, but its a hard call to make. some guys trannies have gone when they were bone stock, other guys have put some serious power through them. a number of L's on NLOC with the same tranny have ran 10's and 11's on the stock trans with just a converter and valve body. i'd keep it in the back of your mind for a future upgrade down the road, but I wouldnt be too worried about killing it in the first 100 miles |
