March 2010 - TOTM Chuck "Cayman150" Thompson #291
This month’s winner has been with the NHTOC since 2004. He grew up in a Ford family but admits going over to the dark side during his high school & college days with a ’69 & a ’78 Z28, so I guess we won’t hold that against him. He is an adrenaline junky just like the rest of us who is not only into track & street racing, but involved in autocross as well. I am sure he has many stories to tell us, in particular one involving a 70 mph 4 wheel drift, door handle to door handle, with the car next to him. If you ever get a chance to meet with him, I will let him talk about this in more detail and the ability to keep his shorts clean while speeding towards a 1 lane bridge. With a marina in place of the auto-cross track now, he spends most of his days at the 1/8th mile drag strip practicing getting his times down.
When not at work or working on the truck, the Island life has a lot to offer for fun and relaxation. So you can find him hanging out at the beach enjoying the fun in the sun, rubbing elbows with some tourists over a drink or two, or just hanging out living the island life. With an open invite to any and all that fly in or take the boat down to the island, he is definitely someone to look up. A GTG junky, just like the rest of us...only problem is figuring out how to get those water wings on the truck to make it to the mainland to attend them. I know that time and the years make things tough on all of us, expecially getting in and out of our trucks, so I will be the first to say "nice side steps there OLD man!!!" J/K, had to get one in!! So with that being said, let me be the first to congratulate this month’s TOTM winner and I give you March 2010’s TOTM winner, member #291, Chuck “Cayman150” Thompson and his 2003 HD F150 #9143. ![]() Question # 1: What sparked your interests in the Harley trucks? Specifically your HD Truck? The supercharger baby! Love to hear the whine and the fact that it is a 4 door truck makes it the king of stealth. ![]() Question # 2: Any interesting stories behind the history of vehicles you've owned leading up to the HD truck or how you got it? In September 2004 hurricane Ivan flooded my 2000 F150 Lariat 4x4 and I remembered seeing the two-tone paint scheme of the 2003 Harley trucks. I had drooled over them but they were a bit too expensive brand new so I decided I just had to get a good used one this time with my insurance money. I searched all over the internet and found my baby with 3475 miles. A Nascar doctor in Mooresville, NC owned it and had bought it for his wife to drive. She needed the steps to get into it hence I got it with step type running boards and no chrome nerf bars. I’m still looking for a decent set. ![]() Question # 3: Give me a rough list of the mods that have been done to your truck. I know you've got a lot done, so you can just list your favorites if you'd like! Check my NHTOC gallery as I have a lot of photos in there of the mod parts Member Profile - NHTOC Gallery Audio/Video Head Deck = Kenwood DDX-7017 DVD/TV/Tuner with 7” indash display Amplifier = Phoenix Gold Ti900.7 Subwoofer = JL Audio stealth box 12" Front & rear door speakers = JL Audio xr570CXi coaxials with component tweeters Rear camera Engine/Exhaust Diablo Sport Predator - programmable performance engine tuner RWTD 19 degree custom dyno engine tune L&S Oil Separator system Chickenears polished billet engine dress up kit#1 Chickenears polished billet engine dress up kit#2 MotoBlue polished billet cold air intake with 9” cone filter MAC 95mm polished billet MAF tube C&L power intake elbow Accufab polished billet single blade 1700cfm throttle body C&L ported supercharger plenum MotoBlue interchangeable 8 lb. crank pulley system 170 degree thermostat Metco polished billet auxillary idler bracket & pulley’s LFP electric fan Factory Tech transmission valve body MAC finned aluminum transmission pan Trasko polished billet oil filter system Optima yellow top D34 battery Wieland polished billet Ford battery hold down tray Tsunami LED voltage chrome battery terminals Chrome jack handle Lighting Sylvania Xenarc HID headlights APC clear corners Sylvania chrome side marker lights Sylvania Silver star fog light bulbs Eurostar Black LED tail lights Ford Lightning LED 3rd brake light AMG Line of Fire LED light bar Modified fog light switch to autosense on/off Brakes/Suspension RotorPros dimpled & slotted vented rotors Hawk ceramic disc brake pads BellTech 2” drop rear shackles Hotchkis Total Vehicle System suspension includes - (front coil springs, rear leaf springs, front and rear anti-sway bars) Bilstein Lightning spec gas shocks LFP 58” powder coated traction bars *** pan hard bar PML finned aluminum diff cover Tires=295/45/VR20 BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW 2 Exterior DeVries Customs Gel “Fast” overlays Lincoln Navigator chrome antenna base Lincoln Blackwood chrome window trim Lincoln Blackwood chrome mirror backs J - Jent lower grill BedRug carpeted bed SlimLine Hard tonneau SlimLine painted running boards Cervini’s Cobra R hood Interior other Chickenears polished billet tilt knob Chickenears polished billet door sills ShowMeChromeAndBillet chrome door lock strikers SVT polished billet coat hangers Chrome & rubber matching emergency brake pedal Lotek dual gauge pillar pod AutoMeter vacuum & boost gauge DynoJet Wide Band Commander system with air-fuel ratio gauge Still in the box waiting to be installed Diablo MAFia Walbro fuel pumps 60 lb injectors Yukon 4.10 differential gears *** tilt hood kit Electric recirculation thru flow IC pump Diablo MAF Xtender Zex wet nitrous kit with bottle warmer, purge and led show light ![]() Question # 4: Tell us a little about yourself. Your other hobbies, your job, your favorite past time, whatever! I love speed and use to do amateur dirt bike racing and also raced autocross on dirt circuits with four cylinder cars. We would do engine swaps and suspension tricks to get them more competitive. I love playing pretty much all ball sports from basketball, football, soccer, tennis, softball, etc. I’ve been in the computer field for over 30 years now working my way up from operator, programmer, analyst and now manager. ![]() Question # 5: You've been a member on the site for a while now, what is one of the best things you like about the site that keeps you around? I definitely like the members and their knowledge and passion for the Harley trucks. What a great group of individuals who are just as caring to their fellow members as they are to their trucks. The camaraderie is inspiring and second to none. ![]() Question # 6: What is one suggestion to help make the site a better place? I really can’t think of anything except maybe improving the method for posting and hosting pictures. It seems that a lot of people insert links to other servers which host their pictures and when those companies go out of business the link breaks and we are without those all important parts of the how-to. ![]() Question # 7: This is where I normally ask about where you decided on your screen name and any specific reason for choosing it? When I had my 2000 F150 4x4 I was a member of FTW and I thought Cayman150 would be unique and I wouldn’t have to haggle over a screen name. ![]() Question # 8: Almost at the end, what is in the future for your truck?, so what’s the next plan of attack for your trucks future?! Well I need to have a GTG here so I can get my “still in the box” parts in! I also want to get the Bassani exhaust with long tube headers and upgrade the heat exchanger to a larger size with dual fans. Eventually I’ll go with a built motor and upgrade to a whipple in the future. ![]() Question 9: Last and final question, just an open end question for if you had anything else you wanted to mention that I didn't have a question for...here's the place to go at it! Your web site link, a plug for something, etc. etc. whatever you want to throw in! Anybody that is coming for a visit to Grand Cayman give me a holler so we can hookup and I can show you around! I work right by where the cruise ships come in and I live right by the airport so either way it’s easy and quick to find you. PM me and I’ll give you my cell number. ![]() |

Congrats Chuck! So well deserved. One of the original fhtoc members, always been an inspiration to me and you couldn't meet a nicer guy. Wish we could organize a Cayman meet. Any group rates on a ferry?
