    Thanks for the leads....

By chance anyone know of a paint color that is simular to the color of the flames on a DSG truck?

I'm thinking if I have to paint my truck, instead of using stickers, I'm thinking of using real painted flames...

    Any Ideas?

Go with PPG Harlequin Essence - Megenta to Gold transition (known as flip-flop paint).

The flames color looks very close to stock but transitions to gold from different angles.

I love the way it looks.

Note: It's NOT cheap! I got some recently for touch-up and it is about $60 an ounce with shipping and reducer. Places very seldom carry much of this paint due to the cost and amount that they sell.

    Here is the paint info....
    - PPG Harlequin Essence "Magenta to Gold" transition paint
    - Paint Code# DH991
    - Cost: $40 per oz

    - CarQuest Auto Finishes sells it in Raleigh. 919.877.0678

Flame job like mine will run you about $3500 (give or take) depending on the painter.

    HOLY CRAP!!

That is soo what I was thinking....

Damn that looks good... How much paint did you need orginally? pint? Quart?

Would you happen to have a few more pics, I need to pitch the idea to the wife and then use pics to close the deal.. :k

I'm thinking that it would probly take at least a few pints (reduced). It just depends on how many flames you choose. Mine has flames down the side as well as under the hood.

Another thing to note. The flame edges are outlined with Candy Red as will as shadow effects with dark gray/black. Most likely airbrushed on.

Some of my photos are from the previous owner who had the truck painted in Texas.
