Could it he possible that my "rubber spring retrainers" need to be replaced? I do get a strange floaty type feeling in corners over bumps sometimes, this is when it generally squeaks too.

Not sure my 02 has close to 40k onher now, but I dont have any funny squeaks...Lubed all the sway bar bushings and end links, leaf sprigns etc.....

Floating feeling probably wore out shocks....I had to replace my stockers at 17k they were totally shot......

Pretty sure this will be sway bar bushings. Mine does the same in colder weather over speed bumps etc.
Stew, any need to remove the bushings to lube, or just spray around the bushing? Been too cold for me to get under the truck to do this. Thanks.

Well not remove the entire swaybay...

Only two bolts hold the c bracket on each side....then after you take that off, there is a split in the bushing itself....I just shot grease up in there and gave the bushing a spin around the bar and bolted her back up.

Just lubed up the swaybar bushings. The driver's side made much noise just rotating it around the bar. Actually took off the bushings, cleaned the gunk and grime on the insides, and lubed with chasis grease. Hopefully this stops the squeaking.

A couple of questions though. How much space/play should the bushing have on the swaybar. Mine seemed pretty loose after I unclamped the bracket. And does anyone recommend replacing them with a urethane bushing? Thanks.

THe clamp compresses the bushing around the bar unless the bushing is wore out....mine are still looking good but saving up to redo all the bushings (Leaf Spring Eyes, Shackle Eyes, sway bar bushings front and rear, sway bar endlink bushings) with Polyurethane ones by 50k....

Stew, I actually searched for urethane bushings in these threads, and did not find one for stock swaybar bushings. Did I just miss it, or are others just replacing the bar AND bushings with something like Helwig etc? I failed to search over at NLOC, but thought those here would have done it by now if it were worth it.

Look on Energy Suspensions Website....they should have what you need.....

Seems like the Majority of Members here have remained stock...

Small percentage have stayed stock in front and then added the L Rear Sway

Another percentage have replaced front and rear with Aftermarket like Hellewig or Hotchkis kits.

I dont think that I have seen anyone post up that they have replaced all the stocker stuff with Energy Suspension PolyE like I am planning to but I am sure there are a few here that have. When I get off my duff to do it I will post part numbers....

I actually read that yesterday Josh. Good info.

I drove the truck for the first time yesterday since lubing the bushings, and the sound is gone. Man it's nice not to squeak going over speed bump and getting into the driveway and not have people look at you!!! lol.

This is something I am going to try and tackle tomorrow when I get back in town. It is absolutely driving me crazy!

Will a good spray from some lithium grease do the job?

    that is what I use.....

You can jack the rear of the truck up (by the Frame) that way the rear suspension hangs free and relieves the load from it...the Rear Leafs will seperate a little gives ya all the room ya need to spray some shots of Grease up in between them and get rid of any squeaks coming from the leafs (if you have them)

Lithium grease should work since that is what Stew used. Definately take the brackets off. (need a floor jack to hold the sway bar up). When they are off, the bushings can come off pretty easily by spreading the clamshell bushing and sliding off. Definatley worth pulling off to clean the inside of the bushings. Mine had caked on grime that had gotten between the bar and bushings, probably what was making the noise. I used chasis grease since I had some. Not sure which is better, the white lithium or chasis, but both should work. Pretty easy job, no more than a half hour. Have fun.
