from what i have heard...is that royal purple is awesome...as long as you continue to use it...but if you ever change....trouble...i am not an engine guy by no means but from what my builder says royal purple eats away at some kind of engine block sealant and replaces it with its own... and when you go to regular synthetic it will not continue to have that sealant that royal purple supplies, which in turn is bad for your engine...just my thoughts.....and also the thoughts of a few high performance builders in the area... not sure if that would cause a ticking but would cause more heat/friction which equals...bad business....

Hmm, well I have only put Royal Purple in it this time, I have only had the truck since December. Nevertheless, it made the ticking sound before I went to RP.

My truck had some funky stuff like that happening when I had my plugs gapped wrong. When I replace my plugs the truck was stock so I gapped the plugs .46 just like the factory ones. Then I replace my lower pulley to a 6lb and had it tuned and I had simular "weird" sounds and then. I regapped the plugs to .36 and it seams like the sounds have disappeared.
    Don't know, just my .02.

my truck has always had a slight tick to it. only hear it in OD like you when accelerating lightly to moderately so it doesnt kick down.

never was able to figure it out on my N/A motor, and the S/C motor has the exact same sound. so i've given up on finding it. two different motors, three different exhaust systems, two different sets of injectors, same sound all the time.

hopefully its the plugs...yes the superchargers can go bad with only 19000 miles...my buddies L went bad with 10000...the upper pulley was bent slightly causing tons of issues...and that is my .02 plus the other.02 i already put in...

Sounds like the CATS, My truck did the same thing. Drove me crazy!! Took it to Ford they replaced CAT Forward and the trick is now gone. Ford knows there is some kind of issue with the CATS on our trucks but they haven't done any type of recalls or anything.

It was free for them to replace it, so I just had it done. I will be going to an O/R pipe soon. (I hope )

    Good luck!!
