That's crazy! I've never seen a HD rim come apart like that.

Glad to hear that they're paying for it

I currently have a 2005 Harley-Davidson F 250 with approximately 98K miles. I recently had a wheel crack and break. I have been fighting with Ford and the local dealer to replace the wheel and so far the best that I have been offered is a $500.00 credit toward the purchase of a new wheel. The catch is that I have to pay full retail for the wheel. ($1295.00). Yesterday a good friend of mine that has the same truck but in a 2006 model had the same thing happen in the same spot. We are going to have an attorney write a letter to ford requesting four new wheels. I don't feel that the wheels are safe. Obviously this has happened before with other people. If you would like to be included in our letter I would be more than happy to add your vehicle to our list. You can e-mail me at cwch-d@comcast.net. We want as many vins as possible to add to the letter. We feel that this is a well know problem with Ford and that they are trying to sweep it under the carpet.

Our wheels cracked in the same spot as yours. Mine actually broke apart while driving.

I own a 2006 Harley-Davidson F-250 w/96,500k miles when my wheel cracked just like yours in the pic. I am good friends w/ cwch-d and the more vins the better. This should be a recall. Safety is my biggest concern, especially when it comes to my family. Please all posts are welcome. Thank you

I had another wheel crack on my 2005 F250 HD last night. I would like to know more about your letter to Ford. This time the wheel cracked at the valve stem with the same split from spoke to spoke as before. My warranty is going to cover this. My mileage is 65,500.

Bad set of rims?? Are you doing any excessive towing or wheeling the truck? Improper tire pressure??

Just bought my 2005 HD F350 and the owner did say that one of the wheels cracked when his wife was driving it. His insurance company paid $1400 for one brand new wheel. I checked all 4 of them before buying the truck since I had read about this problem. Fingers crossed! If another one breaks, I'd rather buy a set of aftermarkets than spend that for one wheel.

I found a set for $400 that were take offs. I passed on them but should have bought them. Oh well. No new issues with the rims and the 5th wheel trailer has been sold. No more towing for this 6.0.

I had one crack in Jan '09 and another last week. Ford won't even talk about replacing. $1300 for a new one. Think I'll buy cheaper wheels that don't crack!

Got my new wheels. I now have three stk 20" wheels if anyone needs to replace a cracked one. I won't be like the guys on ebay trying to rip off unlucky owners.

How did your fight with Ford over the wheels cracking turn out? I'm having the same problems. Called the NHTSA and filed a complaint today.

I am a researcher for a law firm that is conducting an investigation of cracks in wheels/rims on certain Ford trucks. I am trying to locate individuals who have such wheels in their possession in order that we may arrange to have them examined by experts.
I can be reached at patrickhenry2010@live.com
