    Options for heads

So ive been saving my pennies to do an engine build. I have enough for what i WAS going to do, but i got laid off. Ive got a lot of side work ive been doing, but its not bringing in extra cash.

From consulting with Vince with L&S, im going to reuse my block, and beef up the internals. I was planning on completely replaceing the heads, but since its the most expensive part out of this build, now im reconsidering.

I was looking at JLP, and Johnny Lighting heads, but they are expensive. From you guys ive heard bad things about patriot heads.

What are my options. Would getting my current heads ported, blueprinted, and Timecerted be a better option or at least cheaper, and if so any recommendations on a shop that does it?

    Thanks in advance.

I reused my stock heads and had them port'd and polished by Kris Starnes of KSRacing and they are fantastic!! Street tune right now making 650lbs or torque (500 at 2250rpm 600 at 3350rpm and it never fell below 620 through 5000rpm)

Look into seeing who is in your area and do some cost comparison...also check the classifieds on here and LightningRodder.com to see what comes up. Lots of people going back to stock all the time

I got the stage 1's recently, sorry no dyno #'s or track times, nearest dyno doesn't fit my truck (wheelbase too long) so it was street tuned via wideband.

Its a comp cam...which one to be exact I am not that sure, I would have to look up the reciept. It was selected for a purpose build and Kris doesn't believe in stages but said if he had to put a stage on it, then he would have said that it was inbetween 2.5 & 2

He normally gets comp to grind custom cams to his specs per application. I think that is the way to go with porting, cams, and pistons. Custom to the application.

I just had a new engine put in after throwing a rod and putting a hole in my block. Look up 330racing. Al picatto built mine. Stage 2 heads and comp cams, all lower is forged. I'm very pleased. Just another guy to talk to. The guys that put it all together was JMS chip and performance. They are awesome with fords!!!

    Thanks for the info guys.

MMR seems to have set the mark. If i can get my heads reworked for under 1200, then ill go that direction.

IM waiting to hear back from steigmeier. He already ported my Blower and Plenum. I had forgotten to send in my miplate, so i'm waiting for him to get back to me on what it would cost to port the heads and intake manifold, and midplate...

If you had Al Papitto build your engine Kris Starnes did your heads. He doesn't do stages. The website for Al is boss 330 racing. Jms is also definitely one of the best
