    Yes it is worth it.

No real butt dyno effect... but you will free up some horsepower.
Yes officer... I am aware of how fast I was going!

No noticeable power gain that I could feel, but first time at the track, I did take .15 seconds off my previous best time. Not sure if it was all the efan, but the truck was otherwise the same as before. The biggest gains for me, are it makes belt changes a hell of a lot easier, and I cant stand the sound of the stock fan blaring when you first start the truck up. No more of that. For $150 I'd say its well worth it. For $600 or whatever a new kit goes for, Id say no. My setup (used MarkVIII fan, MAD controller) cost me about $200.

Not a huge improvement in power, if you can get it for a good price I would go for it. Every little bit helps.

    1) they say 10 rwhp
    2)better gas milage
    3)easy belt change
    4)less noise
    5) less of a chance to cut of a finger

    Con
1)it is electric and can break
2)might cause a slight drop in voltage
3)have heard that in extreme cases does not cool truck as well.

screw the cutting your finger! ....what's this better gas mileage you speaking of?
what got me NOT to buy is it's electric and can break, and the cooling under extreme cases and even voltage drop! I like listening to my iPod way too much. I like not breaking down even more!

A MarkVIII fan is a factory unit, with factory reliability. And with a MAD controller, is as reliable as anything. I have never broken down in the 2 years Ive had it. With my 900w rms stereo pumping, (and IPOD going) the voltage drops to about 12.5 when the fan kicks on. (at idle) Not too big a deal. And I think the cooling with the MarkVIII is even better than the stock fan. That thing kicks on in the summer, and watching the aeroforce gauge the temp drops quick! I leave it on after a run at the track, and within a few minutes, any part of the engine is cool to the touch.

I wouldnt drop $600 on a LFP unit or anything, but $2-300 for a MarkVIII/MAD setup is a very worthwhile investment IMO.

And no, it doesnt help gas mileage. Nothing does on these trucks

Did you feel any performance gains from freeing up the stock unit?

No. Which is why I wouldnt do it for a full price LFP unit, etc. But $200-250 for a mad controller and a junkyard markviii fan, its worth it.

well i ended up going to the junkyard and getting a 1998 markv111 fan for 75 bucks, then i called jegs and ordered a 30 amp relay with temp sensor, that was 55 bucks. i got some 1/8 inch steel and bolts from home depot and started fabin up the fan. i cut off the shroud of the markv111 and bent up 4 l brackets and just bolted the fan into my stock shroud. the jegs relay had good directions and it went real smooth. i decided to only run the hich speed on the fan just to make it a little simplier and it paid off. the temp sensor is set for 185 and when this fan kicks on it sounds like a damn rocket goin off lol. the entire project took about five hours and i had less than 150 bucks in to it! i recommend this for anybody plus it was a bs project that was fun hangin out wit my buddies drinkin beer!!!
