    hey merlin...

What do you think about turtle wax black box? I bought it and gave it a try and made it look pretty good. After I did the black box I put on a coat of some wax and it looked even better. Any ideas about the black box? All opinions are welcome... Thanks

This is for vehicles with (Swirls/fine scratches) and it wil do an AWESOME job of temporarily filling them for about 2 weeks.
It's designed to hide the swirls and does not correct the paint. It's a jet black "colored," filling wax and nothing more.

The best policy is to, "remove," swirl scratches...Black Box hides your swirls and scratches until the black wax wears off.
If you want to spend your money, time, effort and energy for a 2 week fix then this is the product for you!
It sounds nice but there is no miracle shortcut to eliminate the work needed to do correctly polish paint.

If you purchased a vehicle and the Black Box treatment had been done on it and two weeks later it's covered in scratches...
    or
I can tell you that if I detailed a vehicle with black wax and two weeks later the swirls and scratches all came back...
    Someone would be pi$$ed!

tried it again but put another coat of wax "Ardex topaz" on top of it, lasted about 2 months

Ok, I just completed an EXTREME MAKEOVER on a Black 96 Toyota Tacoma.
This thing was trashed and beat. I mean the paint was COVERED in tons of BAD swirls and scratches!

Black paint with tons of bad white primer scratches and paint chips everywhere.
Thank you Dr. Color Chip! It worked wonders.

Did Dr. color Chip then M105/M206/PO85 polish.
I was out of Poorboys Black Hole so I hit up a local auto parts store.
I found Turtle Wax Black Box. Thinking about this thread I purchased some.

    Mini-Review

I was looking for something that would offer some light filling properties.
Hmmmm...Black PreCleaner, Black Carnauba Wax and Black Detail Spray.
It is not exactly what I wanted but it should work.

The black truck was washed clayed and polished with the above compounds.

    I applied the black precleaner
Removed it with the black detailing spray
R applied the black Carnuaba wax
removed it with the black detail spray.

Yes, all three products are black
Yes, it appears that it may be doing something.

    It is NOT!

It is absolute JUNK and IMHO did not have the filling properties, depth, gloss and appearance of Black Hole Glaze.

Don't waste you money on Turtle Wax Black Box!
Use Dr. Color Chip for paint chips and polish your paint!

I wound up applying two coats of Collinite 845 and it came out GREAT!

I gave the whole Black box kit to the truck's owner as a gift.
I keep what I like and give away (get rid of) the stuff I don't like.
I will admit that the BLACK detail spray gave a nice feel and finish.
