I bought the griots 6" da cause it came in a whole kit for 189 with everything I listed to you.... From reading I did about 50% of what was said to do , a couple questions I have is what is considered imperfections so you have to use the 105 and what's good for cleaning the pads ? I know 105 is a heavier cutter but really the only bad spots besides the rock bites on my front bumper is random scratches from the prev owner that looks like it was fixed with high dollar nail polish .... There are super light and I mean light scratches that unless your a foot away you can't see , which I'm guessing that's what the 105 is for , another I didn't do and I think this is what jacked my elbow is I just applied at a low speed , overlapped as I always do , but I never increased speeds and made the light haze , mainly cause I didn't want to damage the paint, so I spent more time and energy wiping off and cleaning up than I should have , seeing vids shows them spending less time on clean up than application , which is where I deff went wrong , but with this new da I can get it done and worry less.....

Is it variable speed? Cause I don't think it was in the description? If so does the switch state rpm or just a number? Either way can you give me a application #/rpm and a working #/rpm please.... like for instance start with #3 then move up to #5 etc
I would also suggest
1) Meguiars Mirror Glaze W67DA G110 DA Polisher 5 inch Backing Plate $20
6) Constant Pressure Hi-Gloss 5.5 Inch Flat Pads
These are $9 each but they are a GREAT novice pad!
(2-orange 2-white 2-black)
or
6) Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack $35
(2-orange 2-white 1-black 1-blue)
Less expensive than the CP pad but you MUST keep the DA FLAT.
The 5.5" flat pads work best with the Kevin Brown Method on a DA.
I'm just not a big fan of the fat 6.5" pads on a DA to get the job done.
Remember the 4 P's
Paint, Pad, Product and Process.
(This is the pad portion)
Yes it is variable speed. There is a speed wheel setting from 1 to 6
Just a number. Actually the DA speeds are in OPM (Orbits Per Minute)
Here is a link to different manufactures DA machine OPM Chart
Article: Introducing a Newbie to DA Polishing
When I apply fresh product/compound I always start on speed 3. I move my arm speed fairly quickly and spread product in the 2'x2' square
Then, depending on what step of polishing, I adjust DA speed, arm speed and the amount of hand pressure on the top of the machine head
For removing swirls:
DA speed 5 / LC Orange Pad / Megs M105 / Arm speed 1" per second / 15lb of hand pressure on the head
(see left hand in picture below)
TIP:
Take a Sharpie and make a line on the back side of the backing plate. This allows you to see the rotation.
I suggest you use enough down hand pressure to allow a full rotation of the backing plate once per second.
Keep the pad FLAT on the surface! Each pad has a different feel to it. "Feel" the happy place for the pad.
NOTE:
First thing...Remove the "Ergonomic Adjustable Handle" so you can have full hand down pressure control.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT start or stop the machine when the DA is not in contact with the paint.
There are many reasons for this but the first time you do it and then spend hours
cleaning little tiny specks out of the wipers and wiper cowl you won't do it again.

Detailing is more than just washing or putting on a coat of wax. Detailing is thoroughly cleaning, removing
contaminates, swirls, scratches and imperfections from your paint to produce a show-quality level of detail.
To achieve the best possible shine from your paint you'll need 90% procedure and 10% product.
